Fwd: Public Safety Update

Public Safety Update/Summary of Incidents/October 26-November 1, 2009

24 October; 10:00-10:30am; reported 29 October:  A student reported the theft of his debit card somewhere near the ATM machine.  The student said the card had been used and that he had contacted his bank to have the card canceled.

26 October; 11:40am:  A student reported that while he was near the crosswalk adjacent to Admissions & Records, he was assaulted by another student.  The student said there was a verbal confrontation and that he was grabbed by his collar and sustained scratches to his neck area.  Safety staff is following up in an attempt to identify the other student.

26 October; 6:00-10:00pm; reported 27 October:  Safety staff received a report that a student's vehicle had been burglarized while it was parked in the north parking lot.  Missing from the vehicle is a backpack, wallet, ID, and a debit card.  The debit card had been used prior to it being canceled by the student.  There were no signs of forced entry into the vehicle. A report was also filed with the Phoenix Police Department.

28 October; 11:00am:  Safety staff responded to the Dalby building on a report of a disruptive student.  The student had departed the area but he was easily identified from previous incidents on campus.  A report was filed and forwarded to the Dean of Students.

29 October; 5:10pm:  Safety staff responded to the north parking lot on a report of a non-injury vehicle accident.  The vehicles collided when one driver backed from a parking space and struck the second vehicle.  Drivers of the vehicles exchanged insurance information and a report was filed.

29 October; 9:00-10:00pm; reported 30 October:  A student reported the theft of her backpack from a classroom in the E building.  The backpack had been turned in to Lost & Found by a PC employee after it was found between the C and E buildings.  When the student retrieved the backpack she noted that a credit card, textbook, and drivers license were missing.

30 October; 2:00pm:  A student reported while walking near sophomore square, his right knee buckled, causing him to fall and bruise the right side of his face.  Medical attention was not needed.
