Public Safety Update/Summary of Incidents/January 11-24, 2010
3 January; 7:00am; reported 13 January: An employee report the loss of an office key. The key for an office in the E building was lost at the employee's residence.
13 January; 3:45pm: A campus police officer responded to Financial Aid on a report of a disruptive student. The student did not think he was getting the proper assistance he needed. The officer was able to calm the situation and the student was provided further directions on the processes required to obtain financial aid.
14 January; 1:00-4:00pm: An employee reported the theft of a helmet and gloves from his motorcycle. The employee was working at PC Downtown at the time of the theft and his motorcycle was in the parking lot. The culprit apparently cut part of the helmet to remove the items as the helmet lock was still affixed to the cycle. The loss is reported at $145.00.
20 January; 9:25-11:45am: A student reported the theft of her wallet which she lying by a computer station in the Welcome Center at Admissions and Records. A suspect was identified via the surveillance system and contacted by campus police officers. The suspect, a PC student, admitted to taking the wallet. The wallet was returned to the owner and a report was filed.
20 January; 12:00pm: Safety staff responded to a report of an ill student at the Hannelly Center. Paramedics responded as the student was having difficulty breathing. After evaluating him, the paramedics recommended that the student see his primary care manager. Arrangements were made for the mother of the student to respond to campus to pick up her son.
21 January; 4:30pm: Safety staff responded to the library on a report of a disruptive student. The person was escorted from the library. The student information system did not have the person listed as a Maricopa student. A report was filed.
22 January; 7:00am: A student reported that while exiting a bus on Thomas Road, he twisted his left foot and was experiencing pain in the foot and ankle. Paramedics responded to the Welcome Center to evaluate the student. The student was taken to the hospital for additional treatment.
