Public Safety Update/Summary of Incidents/January 25-31, 2010
25 January; 4:00pm: A dental student sustained a hypodermic needle stick to her right index finger while working at an off-campus facility. The wound was cleansed and the student followed up with her personal physician.
26 January; 7:40am: Safety staff responded to a call of an ill employee at the Osborn campus. Paramedics responded and determined that the employee did not need transport to a medical facility.
28 January; 12:30pm: Safety staff responded to an injury call at the C building. A student injured her left hand while lowering a bed and the bed fell on her hand. Paramedic assistance was not required.
31 January; 2:00pm: A jogger on the track advised safety staff of some bones on the football field. The bones appeared to be from an animal but their origin could not be determined. Phoenix police responded to campus and took the bones for further analysis.
SAFETY NOTE: Always be aware of your surroundings and be alert to unusual activities. Use the buddy system at night whenever possible. In parking lots, approach your vehicle with keys in hand in case you need to quickly open the door. At night, try to parked in well lighted areas. Always be safety conscious.
NOTE: Faculty members are encouraged to share the safety updates with their students.
